Catering: Leanne's Rehearsal Dinner

Catering: Leanne's Rehearsal Dinner

A woman came to me because she had our food in the past and loved it. She wanted us to cater her son's wedding rehearsal dinner.

But here's the catch...

She wanted it…

  • Farmhouse style
  • In a picnic pavilion out by the lake.

Beautiful setting by not the best amenities in the world. I was super excited about the challenge: How can we make a screened in pavilion look and feel farmhouse style and yet still have an amazing touch of class and dignity?

So let's first look at the menu; she wanted great food but nothing off-the-wall. She called the whole family “simple eaters”. So here is what we came up with:

Main

  • Beautiful Garden Salad with homemade ranch dressing.
  • Homemade Sourdough Bread with Compound butter.
  • Roasted Chicken Breast
  • Smoked Filet Mignon on a Carving station
  • Mashed Red Potatoes
  • Butternut Squash Au Gratin
  • Green Beans

Dessert

  • Banana Pudding
  • Chocolate Chip Cookies & Milk so cold it’ll make your teeth chatter

Drinks

  • Sweet and Unsweetened Tea
  • Lemonade
  • Water

Amazing menu, yet still simple.

Now how were we going to transform this picnic pavilion to an amazing dinner the night before the most important day in this young couple's life?

Part of what we do at mealfit is being a full service company that can do what you want us to do and take care of your event from top to bottom.

We put up some lights and created an amazing look that was both eye-catching and gave the room a dignified look. We used cast iron dishes to stage the food in to keep it warm while at the same time giving it the rustic look the client was looking for. We used risers to add some varying height. Adding varying heights to a full buffet will make it feel less crowded and overwhelming to event guests when stocked with food. The varying heights also make the display more aesthetically interesting. Flowers are good to class up any event and make it beautiful.

Signs. We used signs for 2 reasons:

  1. To direct the attendees on what they are eating
  2. To add another element of decor

This was an amazing event and it looks like we please the client as well! Here is a FB post that she posted the next week :)
